VNIRO at working meetings of representatives of the Caspian littoral states in Ashgabat

From October 13 to 17, a series of expert meetings from the Caspian littoral states was held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, to discuss draft five-party documents, specifically the draft Agreement between the Governments of the Caspian Littoral States on Cooperation in Marine Scientific Research in the Caspian Sea and the draft Protocol on Cooperation in Combating Illegal Fishing of Aquatic Biological Resources (Poaching) in the Caspian Sea to the Agreement on Security Cooperation in the Caspian Sea of November 18, 2010.

Representatives of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, the Institute of the Caspian Sea, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of relevant ministries and relevant agencies from the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Republic of Kazakhstan, participated in the events. The Russian Federation was represented by Sergey Shipulin, Deputy Head of the Volga-Caspian Branch of the Russian State Research Center "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO).

The meeting participants noted progress in project development and agreed to continue working together.

The foreign experts expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for organizing the talks and for their hospitality.
