VNIRO conducts monitoring work at sturgeon hatcheries of the Azov-Black Sea Fishery Basin

Specialists from the Aquaculture Center of the Southern Branch of the National Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) monitor the activities of federal reproductive enterprises.

Currently, spawning companies of sturgeon species are being completed at the fish hatcheries of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Glavrybvod.

In the period from May 13 to May 15, Anna Pavlyuk, head of the Laboratory of Artificial Reproduction of aquatic biological Resources of the Southern Branch of VNIRO, carried out field work at the Adygea, Grivensk, Achuyevsky and Temryuk sturgeon plants.

As part of the trip, data were obtained on the results of the biotechnical stages of artificial reproduction of Russian sturgeon and sterlet, and participants took part in a survey of production facilities and an assessment of the progress of the state task.

The head of the Laboratory of Artificial Reproduction of Aquatic Bioresources of the Southern Branch of VNIRO monitored the incubation conditions of Russian sturgeon caviar, the maintenance and feeding of sterlet larvae, and assessed the condition of growing ponds being prepared for harvesting.

During the field events, samples of caviar and larvae of sturgeon fish were taken. Subsequent in-house processing of samples will make it possible to assess the physiological state and quality of the fish products obtained.

From May 18 to 22, Elizaveta Butenko and Anastasia Tellonitskaya, employees of the Aquaculture Center of the Southern Branch of VNIRO, carried out similar monitoring work at the Donskoy Sturgeon Plant, where the Russian sturgeon spawning campaign is currently being completed.
