VNIRO mixed feed for Pacific salmon confirms its effectiveness in the current season

From May 26 to May 28, Roman Artyomov, Director of the Feed Department, and Maxim Arnautov, Head of the Feed and Feed Components Department at the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), together with partners from Melkom Group, visited salmon hatcheries in the Sakhalin Region, which used VNIRO-Aquarex compound feeds in 2026.

Meetings were held with the chief fish farmers and heads of enterprises of LLC Salmo, LLC SKRK, LLC Meridian, LLC Ocean, etc., where the results of feeding in the current season and interaction plans for 2027 were discussed. In addition, VNIRO specialists participated in the release of juvenile chum salmon into their natural habitat at the Okhotsk Oil Refinery. At all LRZ, juvenile chum salmon reached the standard size and significantly exceeded the weight of 0.8 g with a survival rate of more than 99%, which confirms the effectiveness of compound feeds and the correctness of the chosen strategy for their use.

VNIRO's profile department will continue research in 2027 on improving compound feeds for Pacific salmon. The main focus of the work will be on the formation of immunity of young Pacific salmon to ensure their resistance to external factors when released into their natural habitat.
