VNIRO scientists, as part of the Russian delegation, took part in the work of the scientific structures of the STO Commission

Researchers from the Pacific Branch of the Russian State Research Center "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) participated as part of the Russian delegation in the 6th meeting of the Junior Scientific Committee on Demersal Fishes and Marine Ecosystems (SSC BF-ME), the 16th meeting of the Junior Scientific Committee on Pacific Saury (SSC PS), the scientific seminar "Introduction to the Evaluation of Fishery Management Strategies," and the 10th meeting of the Scientific Committee (SC) of the North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC).
 
The goal of this international organization is to ensure the long-term conservation and sustainable use of fishery resources in the Convention Area (the open waters of the North Pacific Ocean).
 
During the meetings, which took place from December 8 to 19 in a hybrid format, representatives of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Vanuatu, the European Union, Canada, the People's Republic of China, Chinese Taipei, the Republic of Korea, the United States, and Japan, as well as invited observers and experts, exchanged views and discussed the results of research, catches, and stock assessments of several species of bottom and pelagic resources (fish and squid) in the Convention Area of ​​the Joint Fisheries and Oceanography Commission.
 
The participation of Russian scientists in the work of international organizations provides an opportunity to represent the interests of the Russian Federation and contributes to strengthening scientific and technical cooperation, maintaining the authority of Russian science and the fishing industry.
