VNIRO scientists have discovered clusters of ivasi in Peter the Great Bay

In Peter the Great Bay, specialists from the Pacific Branch of the National Research Center "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) identified several clusters of Far Eastern sardines of different densities using an echo sounder in the course of scientific work on the search for commercial clusters of pelagic objects.
 
The readings of the equipment were confirmed during the control fishing. The first concentrations of iwasi were recorded on the traverse of the A.V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center for Marine Biology, and later clusters of sardines and juvenile Japanese mackerel were found in the area of Cape Sandy.
 
The purpose of the research is to find fishing aggregations and promptly inform fishermen. In the coming days, research in Peter the Great Bay will be conducted from the board of the NIS "Dmitry Peskov", which is returning from the Bering Sea. And in September–October, the "Anatoly Taranets" research vessel will be sent to search for sardines in the Primorye subzone.
