About 250 young athletes aged 12-14 from different regions of the country took part in the tournament — they competed for medals in 20 weight categories.
The tournament was held for the third time: the qualifying stages were held in Arkhangelsk, Ulan‑Ude, Vladivostok, Astrakhan, Petropavlovsk‑Kamchatsky and Kaliningrad, and the final was held in Moscow.
The competition was opened by the head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov. He emphasized the special role of sambo in the formation of personality: "Sambo is a native Russian sport. He trains the spirit, the will, the character. And, of course, it is at this age, at 12-14 years old, that a person is formed. Sambo helps in this. I am sure that in the future everyone who participates in this tournament will become wonderful people. Everyone will go their own way, and this path will be littered with victories."
Following the results of the tournament, athletes from the Vladimir region, the Republic of Adygea, the Krasnodar Territory, Moscow and other regions won medals. Rosrybolovstvo, the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, the All—Russian Sambo Federation and other organizations are among the organizers and partners.
Congratulations to the winners and runners-up! Such sporting events remind us how important determination and the ability to overcome difficulties are, qualities that underlie both big—time sports and serious science. VNIRO supports initiatives that help young people develop these skills, and plans to continue to participate in promoting an active and mindful lifestyle.
