Russian-Chinese cooperation in fisheries has been developing for many years and is strategic in nature. Following on from previous agreements, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in deepening their scientific and technical partnership.
During the official meeting between the VNIRO delegation and the leadership of Zhejiang Ocean University, a comprehensive exchange of views took place on priority areas of joint research. Participants discussed current industry challenges and prospects for implementing innovative technologies in marine fisheries and aquaculture.
A key outcome of the visit was the signing of an agreement to establish a joint Russian-Chinese laboratory for marine fisheries research.
As part of the joint laboratory, the parties intend to focus on developing open-sea cage aquaculture technologies, taking into account climatic and hydrological conditions, as well as improving methods for deep processing of seafood and creating high-added-value products.
The establishment of the laboratory opens new opportunities for sharing best practices, implementing joint applied projects, and transferring modern technologies.
