During the visit, the senator had a working meeting with Kirill Kolonchin, Director of VNIRO, Doctor of Economics. The head of the head Institute of branch science informed the guest in detail about the key activities of the scientific center, its large-scale branch network covering all fisheries basins of the country, as well as strategic objectives for scientific support of fisheries and aquaculture in Russia.
During a sightseeing tour of the Institute, Alexey Kondratiev immersed himself in its rich century-and-a-half-century history, got acquainted with unique archival exhibits and the stages of the formation of domestic fisheries research. The parliamentarian was particularly interested in the advanced technological developments of VNIRO scientists in the field of integrated ocean expeditions, methods of digitalization of fishery monitoring and modern projects for the artificial reproduction of valuable species of aquatic organisms.
At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to supporting regional initiatives in the field of aquaculture and the importance of preserving the ecological balance of the country's water bodies. The visit resulted in a general opinion on the need to further strengthen the dialogue between the legislature and industry science in order to effectively ensure food security in the Russian Federation.
