The event was attended by representatives of the Verkh Isetsky district administration, the City Committee on Ecology and Nature Management, as well as the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Vodokanal. Compliance with the release technology was monitored by specialists from the Ural branch of the SSC RF "All—Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) - they are members of the commission of the Nizhneobsky Territorial Administration of the Federal Fisheries Agency.
Bely Amur has two tasks at once in the Verkhny Isetsky Pond: economic and environmental. The fish actively eats aquatic vegetation, helping to restrain the overgrowth of the reservoir. This is especially important given the strong anthropogenic load: the pond is prone to eutrophication, and natural vegetation regulation is in high demand here.
Meanwhile, another important project has been implemented in the north of the region: over 50,000 yearling sterlets have been released into the Lozva and Tavda rivers. This compensatory harvesting is aimed at restoring the abundance of a valuable species. In addition, the sterlet is a subtle indicator of the state of reservoirs: due to its high sensitivity to water quality, its well—being clearly reflects the ecological picture of rivers.
