On July 18, employees of the Department of State Control, Supervision and Protection of Aquatic Biological Resources in the Republic of Tatarstan of the Volga-Kama Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, together with representatives of the Tatar branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), as part of monitoring the state of aquatic biological resources and their habitat, collected water samples to assess the quantitative content of microplastics in the waters of the Kuibyshev Reservoir in Kazan.
Sampling in the reservoir was carried out from the surface layer of water at the city water intake and wastewater discharge collector of Kazan using standard methods.
The processed samples will show the degree of contamination of the water of the Kuibyshev Reservoir with particles of micro and nanoplastics.
