Agreement signed: Volgograd Region to involve country's leading scientific center in Volga-Akhtuba floodplain irrigation project

A cooperation agreement was signed between the Volgograd Region Administration and the Russian State Scientific Center “All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography” — the signatures were put in the presence of the head of the region Andrei Bocharov by Deputy Governor Vasily Ivanov and Director of VNIRO Kirill Kolonchin.

“The Volgograd Region is interested in strengthening cooperation with the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography in matters of scientific and practical implementation of tasks related to the conservation, reproduction and rational use of biological resources and their habitat. Our cooperation is becoming especially relevant these days — during the period of low water in the Volga basin and preparation for the implementation of a large-scale environmental project aimed at preserving and irrigating the Volga-Akhtuba floodplain — one of the largest biosphere reserves in our country. I count on close interaction and cooperation,” Andrei Bocharov emphasized.

Kirill Kolonchin also noted the importance of expanding cooperation and emphasized that the Volgograd branch has changed its status and format of work - now in the hero city there is not just a regional branch, but the Middle Volga branch of VNIRO, whose activities extend to the entire Middle Volga, subordinate to the centers of the Saratov region, the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Perm region. "Interaction with the Volgograd region is quite good, we can carry out joint work at a high level. The lack of water today is a problem for the entire Volga. I am sure that the project, which recently received support from the parliament, will be implemented thanks to your motor skills. We will work together," the head of the institute expressed confidence.

It should be noted that the state scientific center of the Russian Federation
