Artificial reproduction of taimen

For the first time in Russia, within the borders of the Evenki municipal district, fish farming work on the artificial reproduction of common taimen was carried out on the Bakhta River (the right tributary of the Yenisei River).

The Krasnoyarsk branch of the Russian State Research Center "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) provided scientific and consulting support, and took a direct active part in growing the young at all stages of the production process.

At the stage of catching taimen, specialists were faced with difficulties: the high flood level made it more difficult than ever to catch producers of suitable fish-breeding quality.

The selection of eggs was carried out during their lifetime, all producers were released into natural conditions after rehabilitation measures. Despite difficult climatic conditions and a number of technical problems, successful work on incubating taimen eggs and growing their young made it possible to release 5,880 young fish of this valuable species into the Bakhta River on July 16, 2025. The work on the registration and release of young taimen was carried out in the presence of members of the commission of the Yenisei territorial administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, which monitors the implementation of work on the artificial reproduction of aquatic bioresources.

Fish farming activities for the reproduction of taimen will continue. The Bakhta River within the boundaries of the Turukhansky District is part of the State Nature Reserve of Regional Significance "Bakhta River", the purpose of which is to preserve rare and valuable fish species, including the common taimen.
