Campaign “All-Russian Day without Networks” in Krasnoyarsk

As part of the “All-Russian Day Without Nets” campaign, the Krasnoyarsk branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), together with the Yenisei Territorial Administration, conducted a raid to search for and remove illegally installed tools for the extraction of aquatic biological resources (nets, merezh) in the Yenisei River.

“Finding and eliminating illegal fishing gear is very important right now, since a “spawning” ban has been established from April 20 to June 20, and nets and other illegal fishing gear in the deep-breeding fishery impede the spawning migrations of fish, including valuable species such as taimen and lenok and others, reduce the reproductive potential of all fish species that spawn during this period,” says Alexey Klunduk, leading specialist at the ichthyology laboratory of the Krasnoyarsk branch of VNIRO.

During the raid, 30 nets were found and seized by joint efforts. Live fish were released. Also during the action, conversations were held with amateur fishermen; specialists reminded them of the current fishing rules.
