Compensatory release of juvenile sturgeon species

In early October 2024, the Scientific and Experimental Aquaculture Complex "BIOS" of the Volga-Caspian branch of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO) released 215 young Russian sturgeons with an average weight of 35 grams into a water body of fishery importance (the Bakhtemir River) to compensate for damage to aquatic biological resources and their habitat.

The release work was monitored by a commission with the participation of employees of the Volga-Caspian Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, FGBU "Glavrybvod".

The Volga-Caspian branch of VNIRO continues work to preserve the unique herd of sturgeon fish species in the Volga-Caspian fishery basin.
