Comprehensive studies of aquatic bioresources of the Northern Dvina River delta

The Northern Branch of VNIRO continued resource studies of the Northern Dvina River delta during the cruise of the research boat Priliv. Monitoring of aquatic bioresources was conducted from August 8 to 18 at 5 stations.

During the work, water and air temperature, as well as water salinity, were measured. 30 samples of planktonic and benthic organisms were collected for hydrobiological studies.

Also during the cruise, ichthyological material was collected and biological analysis was carried out. Roach and perch predominated in the catches in the delta. In addition, a more diverse species composition was noted in the catches than in previous years: bream, pike, white bream, chub, ide, rudd and pike perch. And pike catches are higher than last year.

The collected material will be used to assess the number of aquatic bioresources, prepare forecast materials, substantiate the raw material base of fisheries, and develop measures to regulate fisheries.
