The raw material base of five reservoirs with a total area of 6,400 hectares was examined: Andreyevskoye, Butorlyga, Lipovoye, Kuchakovo, Yantykovo, located in the Tyumen and Nizhnetavdinsky districts of the region.
Late spring - early summer is a key stage in the life cycle of crayfish - the period of their reproduction. At this time, eggs are fixed on the abdomen of females, from which a new generation of crustaceans will appear at favorable water temperatures.
As part of the expedition, scientists of the industry conducted morphometric measurements - determined the length and weight of individuals, established the sex of the caught crayfish. The complex scientific work also included the collection of hydrochemical samples and the study of abiotic parameters of the aquatic environment - temperature, mineralization, transparency, pH level of water and the content of dissolved oxygen in it.
The expedition was carried out as part of state monitoring. The data obtained will be used to predict the recommended catch of commercial invertebrates. The next trip to count crayfish in the water bodies of the south of the Tyumen region is planned for autumn.
