First of all, Kirill Viktorovich noted the high professional level of the employees and thanked them for their conscientious work, which serves as a reliable foundation for the development of domestic fisheries science.
The Director of VNIRO spoke about the large-scale projects that the institute is currently implementing - the construction of three research vessels for the needs of fisheries science, the continuation of comprehensive research in the Norilo-Pyasinskaya lake-river system, which began in 2023. The professional team of VNIRO, which is working on studying the state of aquatic biological resources affected by the accident at TPP-3 in 2020, includes highly qualified researchers from the Tyumen branch. Kirill Kolonchin spoke about the interim results of this year's research and the prospects for further work in Taimyr.
Another interesting and responsible area of fisheries science is the start of the Great African Expedition in August this year. It will be the largest scientific study of marine bioresources in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans off the coast of Africa and will return the VNIRO flag to the waters of this region, where Russian scientists in the industry have not conducted serious research over the past 40 years. The expedition will last until 2026.
VNIRO's priority task remains training personnel and career guidance work with young people. Today, fisheries science helps the younger generation determine their interests, abilities and inclinations, and find the most attractive areas for realizing their potential. Interested young people are the key to the successful development of the industry for many years to come.
