Employees of the St. Petersburg branch of VNIRO continue research on commercial cultivation of walleye

The staff of the aquaculture laboratory of the St. Petersburg branch of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation, the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) continue applied research on the development of technologies for breeding and growing promising aquaculture objects ("Technological scheme and biotechnical indicators for commercial pike-perch farming in industrial conditions of cage farms").

The branch conducts research and develops pike-perch farming modes for obtaining commercial fish in accordance with the developed technological scheme for commercial farming of two-year-old pike-perch in cages on artificial feed, aimed at determining the optimal densities of fish stocking in cages to obtain maximum commercial products (ichthyomass).

The development of technology for commercial pike-perch farming and its subsequent implementation in cage-type fish farms will satisfy the population's demand for this valuable fish and reduce the burden on its natural populations. Successful implementation of the proposed research will allow introducing a new promising object into industrial (cage) aquaculture and expanding the range of commercial fish products.
