Expedition to Lake Velikoye to collect field material

During the period from June 17 to 21, researchers and specialists from the Vologda branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) collected field material as part of the state assignment on Lake Velikoye (Vologda region).

During the research, hydrological parameters were measured at all monitoring points: depth, the nature of bottom sediments, temperature, transparency, dissolved oxygen content, active water reaction, salinity, and hydrobiological samples of phytoplankton, zooplankton and zoobenthos were collected to assess the state of the fish food supply. During the research period, the water temperature was kept at +20.5℃. The content of oxygen dissolved in water in Lake Velikoye was above 7 mg/l, which indicates a favorable oxygen regime.

In addition, using a small fleet, nets were set up to collect ichthyological material characterizing the size-age structure of populations of commercial fish species.
