Expedition trip to the reservoirs of the Tomsk region

From August 26 to September 4, employees of the Novosibirsk branch of the State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation, the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), carried out an expedition to water bodies in the Tomsk Region to assess the state of aquatic biological resources and their habitat.

During the expedition, scientific research fishing for commercial fish species was carried out on the Ob and Chulym rivers using a cast seine, drift nets and fixed nets. During the fishing, the qualitative and quantitative composition of the catches, seasonal and species distribution of fish were studied. In addition, material was collected to determine the size and age structure of aquatic fish species.

Hydrobiological surveys were carried out to analyze the state of the fish food supply. Information was collected on the water level and temperature regime in the work area.

Monitoring of recreational fishing was carried out in the surveyed sections of the rivers. The number of people involved in fishing, vehicles, fishing gear, and the quantitative and species composition of their catches were calculated.

The collected materials will be used to assess the current state of stocks, develop total allowable catches and recommended catches of aquatic bioresources for 2026 in water bodies of the Tomsk Region.
