To obtain data on the size and age structure, control fishing with fixed nets was carried out. In addition, samples were taken to determine the fecundity of peled.
Previously, peled lived in the Angara River, but its numbers were low. Over the 13 years since the creation of the Boguchanskoye Reservoir, the peled population has increased significantly, possibly due to the resettlement from the Bratsk and Ust-Ilimsk reservoirs.
For several years, peled was noted as bycatch in the pike fishery and there was a need to assess its reserves in the Boguchanskoye Reservoir. Peled is large, reaching a weight of 2 kilograms, which makes it a valuable gastronomic object.
The materials collected during the expedition will be used to determine the total permissible catch of peled in the reservoir. Additional research in the future may allow us to determine the volume of peled quotas for industrial fishing and make it available to consumers.
