Expeditionary work and monitoring of the ichthyofauna of Lake Irtyash

During the period from June 4 to June 13, specialists from the Ural branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) conducted research on Lake. Irtyash within the framework of state monitoring of inland waters. The lake is the second largest in the Chelyabinsk region, more than 6,000 hectares. It is distinguished by a variety of biotopes, from swampy and shallow bays with a highly indented coastline, to an open, extensive central reach with depths of more than 10 meters.

The ichthyofauna of the reservoir is represented by various species of fish - roach, dace, perch, ruffe, bream, pike, burbot, pike perch, tench, silver and golden carp. A fish breeding area has been organized on the lake, and pasture farming of ripus, peled, and whitefish is carried out.

During the study, specialists selected hydrobiological and hydrochemical samples, measured temperature, water pH, and dissolved oxygen content in different parts of the lake.

To determine the age structure of roach, perch and bream populations, scientific research fishing and mass measurements of fish were carried out.

Compared to the previous year, lower water temperatures are observed (by 2-3 degrees Celsius). The lake's water level remains low.
