Expeditionary work of employees of the St. Petersburg branch of VNIRO on reservoirs of the Leningrad region

In March 2024, as part of the state monitoring of aquatic biological resources in reservoirs of the Leningrad region, an expedition group of the St. Petersburg branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) consisting of the head of the hydrobiology laboratory A.V. Shatsky and senior researcher Yu.A. Zueva conducted planned field studies to collect materials to assess the reserves of chironomids, an important group of benthic organisms that are the target of fishing, in the reservoirs of the Vyborg region.

Annual research covers lakes Pobednoye and Vishnevskoye. On each reservoir, seasonal observations were carried out at 10-12 permanent stations. During the work, specialists from the St. Petersburg branch of VNIRO took more than 40 hydrobiological samples to assess chironomid stocks. The collection of primary hydrological data, hydrochemical samples and other information characterizing the habitat of aquatic biological resources was also carried out.
