Grass carp released into Nizhne Tagil reservoir

On June 6, the Ural branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) took part in the work of the commission of the Nizhny Ob Territorial Administration to exercise state control over the implementation of measures for the artificial reproduction of aquatic biological resources, during which the release of grass carp into the Nizhne Tagil pond was carried out.
The compensation event was attended by representatives of the Interregional Department for Fisheries and Conservation of Aquatic Biological Resources for the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk Regions of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Glavrybvod", the Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Plant (EVRAZ NTMK).

Grass carp (lat. Ctenopharyngodon idella) is a valuable pond fish, necessary for maintaining biological balance in water bodies, since adults prevent algae from spreading, and fry eat insect larvae.
