The event is aimed at environmental education of children and youth and is organized within the framework of the national project "Ecology", aimed at improving the efficiency of waste management, dramatically reducing the level of air pollution in large industrial centers, and preserving the unique flora and fauna of Russia.
The forum brought together 150 schoolchildren aged 10 to 17 from 44 regions of the country. These are children studying issues of protection and restoration of water resources, who successfully passed the preliminary selection. Experts invited the authors of the best ideas to the event, distinguished by their novelty, relevance and ease of implementation.
At the forum, schoolchildren had the opportunity to present their innovative projects for the conservation and restoration of rivers and lakes in our country, listen to the opinions of experts, and gain a unique, memorable experience. During the cultural and educational program, schoolchildren also took a tour of the Volga and Oka.
Over the course of two days, the children studied issues related to the study of water quality, the conservation and restoration of the biodiversity of water systems, and the use of water technologies of the future. Special attention was paid to the topic of using digital technologies in the field of environmental protection, as well as discussing the prospects for the development of drinking water purification technologies.
The employees of the laboratory of aquatic bioresources, the head of the laboratory, candidate of pedagogical sciences Valentina Vandysheva and leading specialist Olga Moreva, spoke to the forum participants as speakers and experts on school projects. As part of the work of the section "Conservation and restoration of biodiversity of water bodies", they spoke about the activities of VNIRO, about the impact of reservoirs on the ichthyofauna of the Volga River. An active dialogue between children and adults allowed the branch specialists to express their opinions and wishes regarding the very interesting works presented by the children.
