II stage of the VNIRO Championship in amateur fishing “Fishing according to science” in the Volga-Caspian fishery basin

On the basis of the Saratov branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), the second stage of the VNIRO Championship in amateur fishing “Fishing by Science” was held in the Volga-Caspian fishery basin. The competition was attended by employees of the Central Institute, the freshwater fisheries branch, as well as the Nizhny Novgorod, Tatar and Saratov branches.

On this day there was not only hot weather, but also a struggle for first place. Senior researcher of the Nizhny Novgorod branch Alexander Bugrov, having caught five carp weighing 3.2 kg, did not leave the slightest chance for victory to his rivals and won first place in the II stage of the Championship. In the last minutes of the competition, Daniil Shevchuk, a junior specialist of the Saratov branch, caught a fish weighing 0.660 kg, thereby pushing Salavat Mukhametkhanov, head of the recreational sport fishing department of the Freshwater Fisheries Branch, to third place on the podium with a catch weighing 0.625 kg.

Our congratulations to the winners of the II stage of the VNIRO Amateur Fishing Championship “Fishing by Science” of the Volga-Caspian fishery basin.
