During the voyage, the ecological conditions of the aquatic organisms’ habitat and the state of the food supply were assessed, and the infection of juvenile bream and roach with epizootically significant helminths was studied.
The studies were carried out in the waters of the western part of the Northern Caspian, at depths from 4 to 9 meters. A 9-meter trawl with a keel insert was used as the accounting gear.
Trawl catches were analyzed for species composition, qualitative and quantitative assessment of the catch was given, some fish were subjected to biological analysis, the rest of the fish were returned to their natural habitat. Samples of juvenile fish were fixed with formalin and delivered to the branch for further office processing.
At each station, water transparency, water temperature by horizons, wind direction and speed were measured. Samples were taken for the laboratory of water problems and toxicology to determine salinity and oxygen content, heavy metals and mercury, organochlorine pesticides and oil products, samples for biotesting and determination of phytopigments. Hydrobiological work was also carried out at each station.
The obtained results of the trawl survey to count the number of yearlings will make it possible to clarify the number of the 2024 generation. The collected monitoring materials will be used to assess stocks, calculate the number, TAC and recommended catch of semi-anadromous and river fish, assess the state of the habitat of aquatic biological resources.
