During the period from May 18 to 21, a regular meeting of the Working Group (hereinafter referred to as the WG) on conversion factors for products from jointly managed stocks of aquatic bioresources of the Barents and Norwegian Seas was held in the videoconference mode, which was attended by Russian and Norwegian specialists.
The meeting was attended by Natalia Yarichevskaya, Head of the Rationing Department, Head of the WG of the Russian side; Elena Bilchak, Head of the International Protocol Sector; and the Polar Branch (N. M. Knipovich PINRO) senior specialist of the laboratory of regulatory support of fisheries Denis Piskunovich.
The parties summed up the results of joint Russian-Norwegian studies on the measurement and calculation of conversion factors for products from blue-horned halibut for the period from 2015 to 2019 and from perch-beak for the period from 2017 to 2019 and prepared proposals for joint Russian-Norwegian conversion factors for various types of products from these types of aquatic bioresources for consideration at the next meeting of the Permanent Russian-Norwegian Committee on Management and Control in the Field of Fisheries.
The participants of the meeting discussed the application of conversion factors by Norwegian vessels for products from cod and haddock gutted decapitated round cut when fishing in the EEZ of the Russian Federation.The Russian side explained that when fishing for cod and haddock in the EEZ of the Russian Federation, approved joint Russian-Norwegian conversion coefficients are used.
During the meeting, the Parties developed a plan for joint research on the determination and calculation of conversion factors for products from jointly managed reserves of aquatic bioresources of the Barents and Norwegian Seas in 2022.
The representatives of the Parties agreed to conduct a joint scientific flight in the Norwegian economic zone in 2022.
