Monitoring studies of the state of aquatic bioresources in the Arctic regions of Yakutia have been completed

Annual monitoring is conducted by the Yakut branch of the Russian State Research Center of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) in the lower reaches of the Lena, Yana, Indigirka and Kolyma rivers. Collection of material takes place mainly in the autumn during the mass migration of commercial fish species. Monitoring points are located in the fishing grounds of the Bulunsky, Ust-Yansky, Allaikhovsky and Nizhnekolymsky districts of Yakutia.

From August 23 to September 19, research was conducted in the lower reaches of the Indigirka River. The main fisheries here are whitefish species - muksun, vendace, broad whitefish, whitefish and Arctic omul.

In the lower reaches of the Kolyma River, research was conducted from August 24 to September 18. Of the whitefish, the main fisheries here are vendace, broad whitefish and whitefish.

From August 27 to September 23, monitoring work was carried out in the lower reaches of the Yana River. The fishing area is located in the village of Ust-Yansk. The main fisheries are vendace, broad whitefish, whitefish, muksun and tugun.

Monitoring of aquatic bioresources in the lower reaches of the Lena River begins on September 25. The monitoring point is located in the fishing village of Tit-Ary in the Bulunsky District.

The research results will be used in the forecast of the total allowable catch and recommended catch of aquatic bioresources for 2026.
