Monitoring studies of the state of aquatic bioresources in the lakes of the Burlin lake-river system of the Altai Territory

From August 26 to 30, employees of the Altai branch of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation, the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) carried out work on state monitoring of the state of aquatic bioresources and their habitat.

As part of the research program, materials were collected on a model reservoir of the Burlin lake-river system - Lake Peschanoye within the boundaries of the Burlin district of the Altai Territory. Observations were made on the state of the stock of the main commercial fish species and crayfish on the water body.

During the expedition, phenological observations of abiotic environmental factors (water level and temperature, air temperature, water transparency, dissolved oxygen content in water) were carried out, ichthyological, hydrobiological and hydrochemical samples were collected. At the same time, samples were collected for parasitological studies of aquatic bioresources of the Burlin lake system - common pike and crayfish.

Compared to the summer season of 2023, the test catches on Lake Peschanoye showed an increase in the number of most commercial fish species, in particular perch. The species structure of the catches was dominated by river perch and roach. During the expedition, the crayfish were in the final molt period, the specimens caught were without signs of disease.

All collected material was transferred to the Altai branch of VNIRO for further identification and statistical processing. The processed data will be used to analyze the distribution, abundance and reproduction of aquatic bioresources and will form the basis for the forecast materials for the catch of aquatic bioresources for 2026.
