Participation of the Pskov branch in the commission for the release of fish seed material

In early November, specialists from the Pskov branch of the Russian State Research Center “All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography” (VNIRO) took part in the planned events of the Commission of the North-West Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, which monitors the implementation of work on the artificial reproduction of aquatic biological resources as part of the implementation of compensation measures.

On November 5, the commission, which included a representative of the customer, inspectors of the Department of State Control, Supervision and Fishery Protection for the Pskov Region, employees of “Glavrybvod” and the Pskov branch of VNIRO, observed the release of pike perch seed material. Pike perch fingerlings were selected at the Nikolsky fish hatchery named after V.P. Vrassky in the Novgorod Region and delivered to the Pskov Region, where they were released into the Dedovichskoye Reservoir in the Ilzna River area. 888 pike perch specimens with an average weight of 10 g were released.

On November 8, pike perch juveniles delivered from the Priozersky District of the Leningrad Region were released into the lakes of the Kuninsky District - Greche (10,000 specimens) and Zhizhitskoye (5,000 specimens), as well as into Lake Psovo in the Velikoluksky District (5,000 specimens).

It should be noted that the release of fish seed material is one of the most important components of maintaining and preserving fish stocks in the region. Every year, in order to compensate for the damage caused to aquatic biological resources and their habitat by economic activity, a significant number of pike perch and pike larvae are released, while the scale of compensation measures increases annually.
