Russian and Norwegian scientists discuss the state of commercial reserves of the Barents Sea and joint research work

In the period from March 15 to 17, 2023, an annual meeting of scientists of the Polar Branch of VNIRO, Murmansk and Norwegian specialists of the Institute of Marine Research (BIMI, Bergen) is held in videoconference mode.
 
Within the framework of the activities of several working groups, a wide range of issues are considered at plenary sessions: changes in the ecosystem of the Barents Sea, the state of stocks of the main fishing facilities, as well as plankton and megabenthos in the Barents Sea. Scientists will discuss a joint research program on the ecology of the Greenland seal; research on the content of marine debris (plastic) and pollutants in biota in the Barents Sea, as well as fishing technologies.
 
Traditionally, experts will evaluate the results of the joint ecosystem survey and agree on further cooperation within the framework of joint long-term monitoring of the Barents Sea.
