For schoolchildren of different age groups, theoretical and practical classes were conducted by teachers of the Vologda State University and the educational center “Shipbuilders of Prionezhye”, specialists from the Federal State Institution “ASSC “Vytegra”” in various areas: “Navigation and shipping”, “Management of a rowing vessel, gaff schooner”, “Fundamentals of design” “Sea Souvenir”, “New Media Workshop”, “First Aid”, “Life Safety” and others.
As part of the cooperation agreement with the cadet school “Shipbuilders of the Onega Region” named after Hero of Russia Yu.L. Vorobyov, scientists of the Vologda branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) - Mikhail Borisov and Nikolai Tropin, conducted master classes on hydrobiological and ichthyological research for the participants of the “floating school”.
Young participants in the specialized session learned about methods of collecting and processing invertebrates and fish. The children got acquainted with the diversity of aquatic animals living in the reservoirs of the Vologda region. Master classes were also held on the eve of the upcoming expedition of the III Floating School “Shipbuilders of Prionezhye” along the Volga-Baltic Canal from Lake Onega to the Rybinsk Reservoir, which will take place from July 1 to July 25, 2024. Nikolai Tropin will supervise the water stage of the expedition with schoolchildren in terms of hydrobiological and ichthyological research.
For reference: scientists of the Vologda branch of VNIRO, starting from 2016, annually take part in water expeditions with schoolchildren as part of the implementation of scientific grants of the Russian Geographical Society.
