On February 12, at the Government of Kamchatka Krai, as part of a meeting of the Kamchatka Fisheries Council, Governor Vladimir Solodov presented the Kamchatka scientist with the high award.
Candidate of Biological Sciences Varkentin Alexander Ivanovich is the author of many scientific publications on biology research, assessment of the state of stocks, total allowable catch and recommended catch of commercial marine aquatic organisms (fish, invertebrates and mammals). In 2014, he defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences on the topic: “Reproductive biology of pollock in the northern part of the Sea of Okhotsk”.
A.I. Warkentin annually participates in the development of annual, quarterly and long-term forecasts of the state of pollock resources and other commercial fish. Participates in the preparation of proposals, scientific substantiations for changes and additions to the fishing rules for the Far Eastern fishery basin. Takes an active part in writing analytical reviews on the progress of pollock and herring fishing in the Okhotsk and Bering Seas.
Since 2014, he has been a member of the Far Eastern Scientific and Industrial Council, since 2016 - a member of the Scientific Advisory Councils in the Council of the Academic Council of VNIRO on pollock and cod, flounder fish, herring, commercial invertebrates, since 2018 - a member of the Investment Council in Kamchatka Krai, since 2017 - a member of the Working Group for the development of proposals for amendments to the fishing rules for the Far Eastern fishery basin, since 2019 - a member of the Council for Science and Innovation under the Governor of Kamchatka Krai.
