The scientific group was received by the Deputy Director of IMROP, Ely Beibou, who thanked the Russian specialists for their work. The Mauritanian colleagues were presented with the results of research work on the accounting of demersal fish and invertebrate species, carried out in September-October of this year. The report was listened to with great interest. An active discussion of the survey results took place.
After that, the details of the upcoming survey of the replenishment in the EEZ of Mauritania, which will be carried out from December 6 to 29, 2024, were clarified.
71 pelagic trawling, at least 40 hydrological and 31 hydrobiological stations are to be carried out.
A tour of the scientific museum of the institute was organized at the end of the meeting.
Together with Russian specialists, the following IMROP employees will participate in the survey of the replenishment: Sov Amadou Harouma (biologist), Abdel Kerime Suleimakne (biologist), Ousmane Sarr and Jemal Abed (oceanologists), Ahmeddou Ould Med ELHABIB (hydrochemist), Sidi Ahmed Hemed (acoustician).

Research work in the Mauritania EEZ is an integral part of the Great African Expedition, the purpose of which is to conduct fisheries research in the coastal areas of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. The work will be carried out by two research vessels of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, the Atlantniro and the Atlantis, with groups of scientists from the Russian State Research Center of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO). The basis for its implementation is the order of the Government of the Russian Federation.
