On the eve of November 8, a meeting of the heads of delegations of the NEAFC member countries took place. The Russian delegation at the session is headed by the Director of VNIRO Kirill Kolonchin.
"The difficult epidemiological situation of the last year has caused the postponement of many important events envisaged by our cooperation. However, through competent coordinated decisions, we continue to ensure the long-term conservation and effective use of fish resources in the convention area," Kirill Kolonchin stressed in his welcoming speech
On the agenda of the session is a discussion of the prospects for the exploitation of stocks of the most priority fishing facilities in the Atlantic Ocean for 2022. Participants will hear reports describing strategies for managing stocks of pelagic perch in the sea of Irminger, whiting, mackerel, Rockall haddock, as well as various deep-sea fish species. In addition, a topical theame will be the consideration of issues related to the spring spawning of Norwegian (Atlantic-Scandinavian) herring.
For reference: NEAFC is an intergovernmental organization that includes countries that have agreed to follow the rules of fishing in the open part of the Northeast Atlantic. The organization was created to ensure rational fishing in the Convention area in the interests of ensuring the reproduction of biological resources.
