The 41st annual session of the NEAFC has begun in London

The meeting of the Commission on Fisheries in the Northeast Atlantic is held from November 15 to 18 in full-time format.

On the eve of November 14, a meeting of the heads of delegations of the NEAFC member countries took place. The Russian delegation at the session is headed by the Director of VNIRO Kirill Kolonchin.

"In order to succeed in solving the main tasks of NEAFC, we must not allow the current geopolitical tensions to interfere with the work of this organization. We highly appreciate the opportunities provided by the annual session to discuss the most important issues related to the management of fish stocks, the protection of marine ecosystems and the implementation of conservation and enforcement measures," Kirill Kolonchin stressed in his welcoming speech.

On the agenda of the session is a discussion of the prospects for the exploitation of stocks of the most priority fishing facilities in the Atlantic Ocean for 2023. Participants will hear reports describing strategies for managing stocks of pelagic perch in the sea of Irminger, whiting, mackerel, haddock, Rockall, as well as various deep-sea fish species. In addition, issues related to the use of bag catchers in shrimp fishing will be an urgent topic for discussion.
