The 5th School of Young Scientists has started

On April 7, the 5th School of Young Scientists started at SberUniversity.

The School is a special merit of the staff and management of the State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO). Since 2013, for the fifth time, young scientists, researchers, postgraduates, employees of the institute and its branches, university students have gathered together, listened to lectures by leading scientists of the country, and discussed what they heard together. For young people, lectures by doctors of science and academics are an opportunity to personally touch upon the most pressing issues and topics. Discussion and scientific debate with authorities of science is an excellent practice for a scientific shift. It is wonderful that several hundred young people have already passed through the School, who over these 12 years have defended their candidate and doctoral theses, headed laboratories and are already going on expeditions and scientific cruises themselves, passing on their knowledge and experience to young people.

Opening the School, VNIRO Director of Research Oleg Bulatov noted that this year the level of this event is very high, more and more scientists and specialists, including our Chinese colleagues, are present both in person and via videoconferencing. There will be a lot of high-ranking officials whom our scientists will be able to personally greet and learn from.

As part of the first day of the School, plenary lectures were held on the topics:

  • Climate and aquatic ecosystem changes;
  • Resources, fisheries, people: what do we know about fishing?;
  • New technologies for scientific research;
  • Scientific foundations of international fisheries regulation;
  • Genomic studies of aquatic biological resources and aquaculture objects.
  • All events of the School can be viewed live at the link: http://vniro.ru/ru/5-shkola-molodykh-uchenykh.
