In the Volga River delta, the main industrial fishing gear is river cast nets, in the marine fishing zone, in the Volga delta - secreta, ventrya, nets.
The main objects of the fishery are semi-anadromous and river fish, such as bream, roach, catfish, carp, pike, pike perch, crucian carp, white bream, rudd, perch, asp, herbivorous fish species. During the spring fishing season, about 22.0 thousand tons of semi-anadromous and river fish were caught, mainly in the Astrakhan region. About 40% of the spring fish catch is usually caught during the autumn fishing season.
When catching in the marine fishing zone, catfish, carp, pike will dominate, from the "other freshwater" group - crucian carp, rudd, perch and asp. In inland water bodies - in the Volga River and its watercourses - pike perch, carp and crucian carp will predominate in catches. Among the fish for which the TAC is established, carp and pike perch will dominate, due to the increased population of these species in recent years. In the catches of the "other freshwater" group, increased catches of asp are noted. For asp, good conditions for reproduction and food supply have been developing in recent years.
From the second ten days of September, trips of employees of the Volga-Caspian branch of the Russian State Research Center of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) to inland water bodies and the Volga delta are planned to observe the fishery. They will conduct research to study the qualitative and quantitative structure of the populations of semi-anadromous and river fish, and the intensity of the fishery.
