The future of the fisheries industry belongs to talented young people

On the last day of the V International Fishing Forum and the Exhibition of the Fishing Industry, Seafood and Technologies (Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo 2022), a master class "5X5 Looking beyond the horizon!" was held. Students of 5 specialized higher education institutions of Rosrybolovstvo presented the prospects for the implementation of their research projects to 5 industry leaders, who, in turn, gave competent answers to all the questions of interest to students regarding building a career in the fisheries industry.

The moderator of the event was Kirill Kolonchin, Director of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography.
"The shortage of highly qualified personnel to work in the fishing industry, especially in its aquaculture sector, is a problem that is of paramount importance for us as a research institution to overcome. In order to form a system of continuing education in VNIRO, there are various forms of support for young people in science and vocational guidance programs for schoolchildren whose initiatives and research projects deserve practical testing," the Director of VNIRO emphasized.

Dmitry Yastrebov, a student of Kamchatka State Technical University, presented an innovative development - a software and hardware complex that is able to protect research and fishing vessels from corrosion processes.

Alexey Poplavsky, a student of the Kerch State Marine Technological University, based on studies of the population structure of the Artemia crustacean in Lake Aktashskoye, made proposals for the effective industrial use of this commercial species.

Vadimir Khodov, a student of the Far Eastern State Technical Fisheries University, described in his report the advantages of the technology he created for cooking functional noodles from seaweed.

The high-tech direction of applied science - aquaponics - was presented in the report of Lyubov Yushko from Kaliningrad State Technical University, as well as in the work of the Astrakhan State Technical University team consisting of Yulia Sergina, Vladimir Demanov and Arina Sakibova.

Lyubov Yushko's research on the cultivation of crayfish and microgreens in an artificially created ecosystem has undoubted practical significance in the context of the development of domestic aquaculture.

Full automation of control processes distinguishes the project of modular aquaponic systems of students of Astrakhan State Technical University.

At the end of the master class, students received memorable gifts from VNIRO and offers of internship at the institute and its branches.
