The girls' team of the Baikal branch of VNIRO took second place among women's teams at the Baikal Fishing 2024

One of the most exciting events of this spring – the ice fishing festival “Baikal Fishing – 2024” was held in the village of Turka, Pribaikalsky district of the Republic of Buryatia. 257 teams from all over Russia took part in it, of which 39 were women’s.

The Baikal branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) presented two women's teams - “Baikal Gammarids” and “Deffchonki”. Despite the harsh conditions - a frosty morning, a cold piercing wind and ice more than a meter thick - the girls showed remarkable abilities, did not give up, and competed with honor for the main prize.

According to the results of the competition, the Baikal Gammarid team, having caught 16 broadheads with a total weight of 102 grams, took second place in the Best Women's Team category. The catch of the “Deffchonki” team was 46 grams, which in Baikal fishing conditions is an excellent result, because many teams left their zones with empty bags.

The total catch of all teams was 15 kilograms. The festival has been gathering ice fishing connoisseurs for 18 years, and for the first time the main prize was won by a women's team. The team from Ulan-Ude left the festival with a fishing record of 811 grams in a new SUV.
