Visit of the Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Volga-Caspian branch of VNIRO

On October 18, a Kazakh delegation headed by Vice Minister of Agriculture Amangali Berdalin visited the Astrakhan Region to fulfill the assignment of the Head of the Republic of Kazakhstan to develop design and estimate documentation for the project "Updating the Atyrau Sturgeon Farm", part of which took place at the Volga-Caspian branch of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO).
 
The delegation included Acting Chairman of the Fisheries Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almas Asylbekov, Acting Director of the State Enterprise "Atyrau Sturgeon Fish Hatchery" Bolat Mukhadzhiev, Director of the Atyrau branch of LLP "SPC Fisheries" Yerbolat Kadimov, and other representatives of government bodies, business, scientific and design organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
 
As part of the visit program, the delegation got acquainted with the modern scientific research activities of the branch and its rich history, visiting scientific laboratories, a museum and a library.
 
One of the stages of the visit was familiarization with the work of the scientific and experimental complex for aquaculture "BIOS" and the Unique scientific installation of VNIRO in the village of Ikryanoe, during which they were shown the maintenance and cultivation of different-age and different-species juvenile sturgeon in pools, including the cultivation of experimental batches of juveniles obtained using cryopreserved sexual products, the processes of grading the broodstock and keeping producers in wintering pools were shown.
 
As part of the visit, issues of possible cooperation in the artificial breeding of sturgeon juveniles, assistance in the creation of a selection and genetic center based on the Atyrau sturgeon plant, and the training of the necessary personnel were discussed. The current issues of joint research work in the field of studying the state of aquatic biological resource populations, regulating fisheries, and studying the habitat were discussed.
 
Amangali Berdalin was presented with a monograph from the VNIRO publishing house “Fish Resources of the Caspian Sea” (authors V.P. Ivanov, V.P. Paltsev, S.V. Shipulin).
