VNIRO and RGO summed up the results of their joint work

On December 24, a joint conference of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS) and VNIRO was held at the site of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO).
 
Specialists and researchers shared information about the work done, the results of expedition activities and work plans for 2025.
 
Deputy Executive Director of the RGS Sergey Korlykhanov addressed the participants of the event via video conference: "I am very glad that we managed to achieve all the goals set this year. This is an indicator that the work has been established, that we have found common ground and, in the future, we will only expand the boundaries of our joint projects."
 
Curator of scientific work of the RGS expeditions Roman Moskin summed up the results of the expedition activities of 2024 and the plans for expeditions for 2025.
 
Head of the Kamchatka branch Nina Shpigalskaya spoke about the results of joint scientific research with the Russian Geographical Society in the Kamchatka region in 2023-2024.
 
Deputy Director and Head of the Pacific branch of VNIRO Alexey Baytalyuk highlighted the institute's Arctic research plans in his report.
 
Deputy Head of the Polar branch of VNIRO Konstantin Sokolov and Head of the Freshwater Fish Department of the Department of Aquatic Bioresources and their Habitat Svetlana Brazhnik spoke about expeditionary research on Franz Josef Land.
 
Deputy Head Pavel Bagimov noted a very important joint event of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Navy, the Russian Geographical Society and VNIRO: the discovery of the exact location of the wreck of the legendary research vessel Perseus, where a memorial sign was installed.
 
Following the conference, the participants discussed upcoming expeditions and recognized the joint cooperation of VNIRO and the Russian Geographical Society as productive for the further development of the fisheries industry.
