VNIRO feed formulations ensure the efficiency of breeding salmon species

Kirill Kolonchin, Director of Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), Doctor of Economics, held a meeting on the introduction and use of Russian formulations for the production of starter and production feeds in order to provide salmon hatcheries in the Far East as part of a working trip to the Sakhalin Region.

The meeting, held in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Sakhalin Region Anton Zaitsev and Minister of Fisheries of the Sakhalin Region Ivan Radchenko.

Scientists of fisheries science, representatives of fish hatcheries and enterprises specializing in the production of feed for aquaculture contributed to the meeting.

As Kirill Kolonchin, Director of VNIRO, noted, the Far East is leading in terms of artificial reproduction of Pacific salmon, whose stocks have the most important fisheries importance for the region.

“The unique scientific developments of VNIRO scientists, thanks to their balanced and multicomponent composition, fully meet the needs of Far Eastern fish farmers. Our institute has a wide network of contacts for effective cooperation with the largest salmon farms, supervising and optimizing their work by integrating an innovative scientific approach into the production process,” -  Kirill Kolonchin stressed.

On the basis of the VNIRO Experimental Aquaculture center, scientists and technologists synthesize unique compound feeds that are saturated with protein and other nutritional components, contributing to high growth rates of juveniles and improving their survival.
