The Russian Federal research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) plans to change the scheme of delivery of Beluga whales from Primorye to the place of release on the coast of the sea of Okhotsk due to the difficult flood situation on the Amur river.
"The situation with the flood in the Khabarovsk territory remains tense. For the second week in a row, we have to adjust the schedule for the start of transportation and release of the remaining Beluga whales from Middle Bay. Taking into account the unfavorable situation VNIRO is preparing changes in the logistics of transportation of animals, which will significantly increase the party transported Beluga whales and successfully complete the operation," - said the Director of VNIRO Kirill Kolonchin.
According to hydrologists, the crest of the Amur flood will reach the Nikolaevsky district of the Khabarovsk territory approximately by September 20.
