During the research work, the species composition of the catches was determined, followed by sampling and collection of biological material to determine the quantitative and qualitative indicators of semi-anadromous fish species at different stages of development.
Also, observations were made of the overgrowing of the estuaries with submersible vegetation, the water temperature was measured, and water samples were taken to determine hydrochemical indicators. In the studied reservoirs, water levels characteristic of this time of year were noted. The exception was the Chelbasskaya group of estuaries, where, due to the weak inflow of water from the Chelbas, Miguta and Albashi rivers, water levels were very low, which led to a decrease in spawning areas and feeding grounds for aquatic biological resources.
During the expeditionary research, juveniles of semi-anadromous fish species were noted in all groups of estuaries. The largest number was noted in the Akhtarsko-Grivna group. The weak inflow of fresh water in the spring, and as a result, the increase in salinity, negatively affected the volume of reproduction in the estuaries of the Kuliko-Kurchanskaya group.
Viktor Petrashov, head of the Azov estuaries sector of the Azov-Black Sea branch of VNIRO, noted that in the studied reservoirs, in the catches of the fry drag, two-year-old pike perch and roach were noted, which indicates that some of the young of these species did not migrate to the Azov Sea and remained in the estuaries. Also present in the catches were young perch, crucian carp, gobies, needlefish, carp and others.
Currently, the materials obtained during the expedition work are undergoing office processing.
