Volgogradsky, together with the Saratov branch of VNIRO, carries out industrial environmental control (monitoring) of the impact of its activities on the aquatic biological resources of the Don Basin objects

Volgograd specialists, as part of a joint production environmental monitoring with the Saratov branch of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO), carried out an expeditionary trip to the water bodies of the Don Basin in order to carry out work to monitor the impact of ongoing economic activities on aquatic biological resources and their habitat during the period construction of the South European Gas Pipeline facility.

The expedition group collected hydrobiological and ichthyological material at control observation points on the Donskaya Tsaritsa, Erik, Myshkova, Aksai Esaulovsky, and Aksai Kurmoyarsky rivers.

A total of 30 hydrobiological and 10 ichthyological samples were taken at five points. Hydrological (water temperature, transparency) and chemical parameters (hydrogen index, concentration of dissolved oxygen in natural water) were also measured.

The collected material will expand the array of data used in assessing the state of aquatic biological resources and their habitat.
