During the studies, measurements of hydrological parameters (depth, nature of bottom sediments, temperature, transparency, dissolved oxygen content, active reaction of water, mineralization) were taken at all monitoring points, and hydrobiological samples (phytoplankton, zooplankton, zoobenthos) were collected to assess the state of the fish food supply.
Both lakes are relatively close to each other and communicate with Lake Onega. During the research period, the water temperature in the lakes was within 16.4-16.80 C, transparency averaged 0.8 m, pH value was 7.3-7.7, average mineralization was 37.2-41.8 mg/l, dissolved oxygen averaged 9.7 mg/l.
In addition, using a small fleet, nets were set up to collect material on the size-weight and size-age structure of commercial species populations. The species composition of the ichthyofauna of the lakes is similar. In the coastal part, rudd predominates in catches, and in the central part - sabrefish. Also, in both lakes, white bream, roach and perch are found in large quantities. Bream, mainly small, were caught in small quantities of pike perch and pike.
All field material is in laboratory processing. The data obtained will be used to develop a forecast of commercial fish stocks for the following years in the Velikoe and Megrskoe lakes.
