The main place for ichthyological research on the Tuloma River was the fish passage of the Nizhne-Tulomskaya Hydroelectric Power Station, where employees conducted a census of Atlantic salmon passing through the fish passage and collected ichthyological material.
During the work, the length of individuals was measured, scales were selected to determine age, and fish were examined to identify and count sick individuals injured by predators and as a result of illegal fishing.
Further, experts also analyzed data on the biology of Atlantic salmon and brown trout spawners on the Ponoi River. Primary materials for research were collected from live fish and their subsequent release into the natural habitat (catch-and-release fishing).
