At the end of July, as part of the state monitoring of aquatic biological resources and their habitat in inland waters, specialists from the St. Petersburg and Novgorod branches of the Russian State Research Center of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) conducted joint comprehensive field studies on Lake Ilmen.
In the second half of July, specialists from the Volga-Caspian branch of the Russian State Research Center “All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography” (VNIRO) carried out a sturgeon survey voyage in the Northern Caspian on the research vessel “Gidrobiologist”.
In order to assess the productivity of sturgeon species and black-backed herring, monitoring work continued on the R/V Ecolog and Daphnia of the Volga-Caspian branch of the Russian State Research Center of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) in the bed of the Volga River, in the area of Gusiny Island, in the waters of the Main Bank - a section of the Volga-Caspian Marine Shipping Canal (VCMSC 68-140 km).
From July 14 to 16 of this year, the chief specialist of the aquaculture sector of the Khabarovsk branch of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation “All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography” (VNIRO) Zh.S. Litovchenko, as part of the Russian delegation, took part in events on the release of sturgeon juveniles into the border waters of the Amur River in the city of Fuyuan (PRC).

Accounting for the stock of Baikal omul

In June-July of this year, the Baikal branch of the Russian State Research Center “All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography” (VNIRO) conducted control catches of fattening aggregations of Baikal omul.
The long-clawed crayfish is a representative of the order of decapod crayfish and one of the main freshwater representatives of its order in Russia, an important commercial object in the Azov-Black Sea fishery basin.
At the present stage, dynamic natural, climatic and anthropogenic changes are taking place in the Azov Sea basin, which certainly have an impact on the raw material base of fisheries.
Since 2014, at the initiative of the Vologda branch of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation "All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography" (VNIRO), events for the artificial reproduction of rare and vulnerable fish species have been held in the region on an ongoing basis using funds from compensation measures for damage caused to aquatic bioresources by economic activities.

Studies of the Kuibyshev reservoir

Specialists of the Tatar branch of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation “All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography” (VNIRO) have completed the summer cycle of studies aimed at studying the efficiency of natural reproduction of commercial fish species and the survival rate of their young in the Kuibyshev Reservoir.
Scientists from the Polar Branch of the Russian State Research Center “All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography” (VNIRO) spent 19 days on a research cruise on the research vessel “Professor Boyko”, where they conducted comprehensive studies of the coastal biocenoses of the Barents and White Seas.
